Digital Betacam

Digital Betacam was the successor to Beta-SP. The tape shell and size was identical, and there were indeed decks that were capable of playing and recording both analog Beta-SP as well as Digital Betacam. The decks sported modern connectivity like SDI inputs and outputs. True 4-channel audio was also supported with digital audio output as well. Like Beta-SP, the cassettes came in both a 30-minute small format for camcorders as well as a 60/90-minute version for studio decks (not pictured).

This should not be confused with Beta-MX, MPEG-IMX, or HDCAM, all of which used the Sony Beta-SP cassette shape.

WDLN.tv offeres transfer of Digital Betacam tapes via DVW-500 and DVW-A500 decks.
